Midnight Marathon

As the Charter President of Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor, RK continues to play a major role in organizing Bangalore’s  Midnight Marathon since the last five years.

The world’s first Midnight Marathon was held on 19th May 2007 by the Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor. It has been successfully held every year and has made great strides in the last five years.

Today, it happens to be Bengaluru’s only marathon, features participants from more than 20 countries and it happens to be an official “International Marathon Calendar’ event. Great industry support has made it the city’s most awaited running event. It is an event which boasts of enthusiastic community/media support where the Bangaloreans always put up a spirited run.

“As a native of Bengaluru, I am concerned about the loss of greenery in our beloved garden city. As a sportsman, I am looking forward to participating in the event and encourage my fellow Bangaloreans to do so.” - Javagal Srinath, Indian cricketer, 2009.

This running festival features a Power Mile Run, Corporate Relays, Community Relays, Fun and Frolic on Race Day and a Prize Distribution. It is held in the green technology hub of Bangalore-Whitefield which is surrounded by multinationals, gated communities and the best of civic amenities and infrastructure. The proceeds go to social, charitable and community projects of the Rotary.

RK and his team garnered huge industry support and the proceeds contribute to a variety of charitable and community projects. In the 2011 edition the focus was on Holistic Development of Children-Health, Education and Community.

The goals and results are measurable & meaningful and are tracked consistently:

  • Children are our future-No child left behind.
  • For a Healthy world- Medical support for the underprivileged.
  • Save the environment-Clean and Green Bangalore.
